Fundraising Projects
For many years the members and friends at Carrville spent much of their time raising funds to build a new Church and meeting rooms. Since the new church opened in December 2004 we have been able to focus our efforts on raising money for other good causes.
Each year the Church Council chooses charities to support. This year we are supporting:
The Leprosy Mission
This charity is an international Christian development organisation, transforming and empowering the lives of people affected by leprosy in around 30 countries across the world. Their goal is to eradicate the causes and consequences of this disease. They are motivated by God's love and concern for people affected by leprosy, and address the physical, social, economic and spiritual needs of individuals and their communities. All their services are provided regardless of religion or ethnicity, promoting equality and social justice.
Other charities the church supports include:
Compassion UK
Compassion is a church-based and child-centred Christian charity. Carrville Methodist Church is linked with the Project Centre at Yirga Centre, a hillside town in Ethiopia, home to approximately 30,000 residents. Several members of the church are sponsoring individual children and the church as a whole is sponsoring a 7 year old boy called Abenzer Daniel. Sponsoring a child through Compassion UK helps provide Christian training, health care, and learning opportunities for the sponsored children.

Operation Christmas Child
Keep your eyes open for a sturdy shoe box for later in the year, because we're hoping to make an even bigger response this year to our Operation Christmas Child appeal. Just a normal-sized box is needed, with a separate lid, covered with attractive paper.
That's the hard part! The rest is easy. Any bits and bobs a child would like to receive. Don't worry about the fact that the child may already have the things you put in. The kids who receive these boxes have nothing! They live in disused railway trucks, on rubbish tips or in orphanages. Cuddly toys and sweets are unknown to them.
It won't cost a lot to bring pleasure to a child who is so much less fortunate than our children are. Mid November is the deadline so you have plenty of time!
