Services and Events
Read on to discover the services and events we have taking place in Durham City East Methodists at our churches in Carrville, Pittington and Bowburn, as well as details of our weekly activities and groups. Refreshments are available after all the services. You can see information about services taking place at other churches in the Durham and Deerness Methodist Circuit on the circuit web site.
Tuesday 16th April

10.15am (Pittington) – Rev. Paul Beetham will lead this service

9.30am (Carrville) – Rev. Paul Beetham leads this informal service.
10.15am (Pittington) – Rev. John Jebaseelan will lead this service.

11.30am (Bowburn) – Mr Bill Offler lead this service.
Saturday 27th April
3.00pm (Carrville) – Chester-le-Street Civic Choir Concert “We’re the choir” with proceeds in aid of the church organ fund. Tickets are £5 with donations for refreshments.

10.30am (Carrville) – Mr Bill Offler will lead this service.

Thursday 2nd May
11.15am (Bowburn) – Rev Fiona Weir lead this service (note the earlier start time), followed by a light lunch (please book at least one week in advance).

6.30am (Carrville) – This Circuit Service is the Ordinands Testimony Service for Rev. Fiona Weir.
Other regular activities
Monday
- 8.00pm – Faith & Friendship meets on Monday evenings either online or in person for discussion and fellowship. Contact Suzie for meeting dates and venue.
Tuesday
- 5.30pm – Brownies at Carrville.
Wednesday
- 10.00am – Weekly prayer meeting – Join us for half an hour for the Durham City East Methodists’ online prayer meeting on Zoom. Contact Linda if you’d like the link to join us. Feel free to come along with your morning cuppa!
- 2.00pm – Monthly Bible Study – On the first Wednesday of each month we meet at Carrville for our monthly bible study. As we read, pray and talk together, hopefully the familiar and not so familiar stories will come alive in new and unexpected ways. Refreshments are provided. NB – In April the bible study will be on 10th April at 1pm (note the different time and date).
Thursday
- 10.00-11.00am (term-time) – Coffee morning each week which is followed by Worship at 11.30am – you are welcome to join us for either or both events. This takes place in Bowburn Community Centre which is opposite the Methodist Church.
- 12.30pm – Soup and roll lunch at Bowburn on the 1st Thursday of each month – recommended donation of £4.00. Please let us know numbers a week in advance.
- 9.45-11.15am (term time) – Pram Club meets during school term time at Carrville – please contact Joanne (07979 764009) if you have any questions.
Friday
- 10.30-12.30 – Crafty Knitters – A weekly craft group at Pittington St John’s church. A £3 subs charge is payable each time you come which includes refreshments. Contact Soo if you’d like to know more (email: illingworthsoo@sky.com or phone 0191 372 1373)
- 6.00pm – Rainbows at Carrville.
Saturday
- 9.00-9.45am – Join us in the Carrville church hall for our monthly prayer breakfast on the first Saturday in the month.
- 10.00-11.30am – Monthly coffee morning on the first Saturday in the month in Carrville church hall.
