Read on to discover the services and events we have taking place in Durham City East Methodists at our churches in Carrville, Pittington and Bowburn, as well as details of our weekly and monthly activities and groups. Sunday 24th November
10.30am (Carrville) – Mr Bill Offler leads this service.
Tuesday 26th November
9.30am (Carrville) – Rev. Dawn Brown will lead this informal service.
10.15am (Pittington) – This service will be led by Ms Soo Illingworth.
Wednesday 27th November
2.00pm (Pittington) – This year’s Advent Bible study starts today using ‘What a gift’, a four part study by John Birch.
Thursday 28th November
11.15am (Bowburn) – Rev. Paul Beetham leads this service.
Saturday 30th November
3.00pm (Carrville) – Join us for a free seasonal musical concert with vocal and instrumental contributions. Donations can made on the day to Save The Children and Carrville’s organ fund.
Sunday 1st December
10.30am (Carrville) – Rev. Fiona Weir will lead this sacrament service.
Tuesday 3rd December
9.30am (Carrville) – Rev. Frances Neal will lead this informal service.
10.15am (Pittington) – This communion service will be led by Rev. Fiona Weir
Wednesday 4th December
2.00pm (Carrville) – The 2nd session of this year’s Advent Bible study using ‘What a gift’, a four part study by John Birch.
Thursday 5th December
11.15am (Bowburn) – Rev. Fiona Weir leads this communion service.
This will be followed by a light lunch at 12.30pm including a grand raffle. Prizes include luxury hamper, Christmas cake and many more! Money raised will be donated to charities and church funds. Numbers for lunch one week in advance please to sharps893@gmail.com
Saturday 7th December
10.00-12.00 (Carrville) – Come along and join us at our Christmas Fair in aid of church funds. Stalls will include raffle, cakes, crafts, jewellery, books, jigsaws and tombola.
Sunday 8th December
10.30am (Carrville) – Rev. Fiona Weir will lead our informal Nativity service.
Tuesday 10th December
9.30am (Carrville) – Rev. Paul Beetham will lead this informal service.
10.15am (Pittington) – This service will be led by Pauline Caswell.

2.00pm (Carrville) – Christmas Concert with Durham Constabulary Choir and Belmont Ladies Choir with light refreshments – tickets are £5.

10.30am (Carrville) – Our service will be led by members of the congregation.
Tuesday 31st December
10.15am (Pittington) – This service will be led by Rev. John Jebaseelan.
Other regular activities
Monday
- 8.00pm – Faith & Friendship meets on Monday evenings either online or in person for discussion and fellowship. Contact Suzie for meeting dates and venue.
Tuesday
- 5.30pm – Brownies at Carrville for girls aged 7-10.
Wednesday
- 10.00am – Weekly prayer meeting – Join us for half an hour for the Durham City East Methodists’ online prayer meeting on Zoom. Contact Linda if you’d like the link to join us. Feel free to come along with your morning cuppa!
- 2.00pm – Monthly Bible Study – On the first Wednesday of each month we meet at Carrville for our monthly bible study. As we read, pray and talk together, hopefully the familiar and not so familiar stories will come alive in new and unexpected ways. Refreshments are provided.
Thursday
- 10.00-11.00am – Weekly Coffee morning which is followed by Worship at 11.15am – you are welcome to join us for either or both events. This takes place in Bowburn Community Centre.
- 12.30pm – A light lunch of soup, roll, cake, tea and coffee at Bowburn on the 1st Thursday of each month – recommended donation of £4.00. Please let us know numbers a week in advance (contact Shirley on 07580 252122 or sharps893@gmail.com, or Liz on 01388 227316).
- 10.00-11.30am (term time) – Pram Club meets during school term time at Carrville – please contact Joanne (07979 764009) if you have any questions.
Friday
- 6.00pm – Rainbows at Carrville for girls aged 4-7.
Saturday
- 9.00-9.45am – Join us in the Carrville church hall for our monthly prayer breakfast on the first Saturday in the month.
- 10.00-11.30am – Monthly coffee morning on the first Saturday in the month in Carrville church hall.
