Read on to discover the services and events we have taking place in Durham City East Methodists at our churches in Carrville, Pittington and Bowburn, as well as details of our weekly activities and groups. Tuesday 10th September
9.30am (Carrville) – Rev. Fiona Weir leads this informal Communion service.
10.15am (Pittington) – Professor Mark Wilson leads this service.
Thursday 12th September
11.15am (Bowburn) – Mr Bill Offler leads the service.
Saturday 14th September
3.00pm (Carrville) – Informal concert of light instrumental and vocal music, followed by refreshments. Free with donations to Methodist charity ‘All We Can’ and church organ fund.
Sunday 15th September
10.30am (Carrville) – Rev. Fiona Weir leads this service.
Tuesday 17th September
9.30am (Carrville) – Miss Eunice Glendenning leads this informal service.
10.15am (Pittington) – Ms Soo Illingworth leads this service.
Thursday 19th September
11.15am (Bowburn) – Rev. John Jebaseelan leads the service.
Sunday 22nd September
10.30am (Carrville) – Deacon Jane Middleton will lead this service.
Tuesday 24th September
10.15am (Pittington) – This joint Harvest service of Carrville and Pittington congregations will be led by Rev. John Jebaseelan.
Thursday 26th September
11.15am (Bowburn) – Deacon Jane Middleton leads the service.
Saturday 28th September
5.30pm (Carrville) – Join us for our Harvest Supper including beetle drive, quiz and pie and peas to eat. Tickets are £4 for adults and £2 for children (deadline for booking is 22nd September).
Sunday 29th September
10.30am (Carrville) – Rev. Les Nevin leads our harvest service followed by a simple lunch (deadline for bookings is 22nd September).
Saturday 5th October
9.00-10.00am (Carrville) – Monthly prayer breakfast
10.00-11.30am (Carrville) – Monthly coffee morning
Other regular activities
Monday
- 8.00pm – Faith & Friendship meets on Monday evenings either online or in person for discussion and fellowship. Contact Suzie for meeting dates and venue.
Tuesday
- 5.30pm – Brownies at Carrville for girls aged 7-10.
Wednesday
- 10.00am – Weekly prayer meeting – Join us for half an hour for the Durham City East Methodists’ online prayer meeting on Zoom. Contact Linda if you’d like the link to join us. Feel free to come along with your morning cuppa! NB – In June this will take place on Tuesday 4th June at 1.00pm.
- 2.00pm – Monthly Bible Study – On the first Wednesday of each month we meet at Carrville for our monthly bible study. As we read, pray and talk together, hopefully the familiar and not so familiar stories will come alive in new and unexpected ways. Refreshments are provided.
Thursday
- 10.00-11.00am – Weekly Coffee morning which is followed by Worship at 11.15am – you are welcome to join us for either or both events. This takes place in Bowburn Community Centre.
- 12.30pm – Soup and roll lunch at Bowburn on the 1st Thursday of each month – recommended donation of £4.00. Please let us know numbers a week in advance (contact Shirley on 07580 252122 or sharps893@gmail.com, or Liz on 01388 227316).
- 10.00-11.30am (term time) – Pram Club meets during school term time at Carrville – please contact Joanne (07979 764009) if you have any questions.
Friday
- 6.00pm – Rainbows at Carrville for girls aged 4-7.
Saturday
- 9.00-9.45am – Join us in the Carrville church hall for our monthly prayer breakfast on the first Saturday in the month.
- 10.00-11.30am – Monthly coffee morning on the first Saturday in the month in Carrville church hall.
