What’s on now!

We are delighted to have restarted our in-person services in the church building – please see further down this page on how to book your place at a service. We usually live stream our services on Facebook – to join our services being broadcast on Facebook you will need to join the Facebook group in advance. Please contact Andy, our minister, if you would like to access a download of the service.

Weekly prayer meeting

Join us each Wednesday 9.30-10.00am (note the new time) for the Durham City East Methodists’ online prayer meeting on Zoom. Contact us if you’d like the link to join us. Feel free to come along with your morning cuppa!

Monthly Bible Study

On the first Wednesday of each month we are meeting at church for our monthly bible study at 2pm. We are currently studying a resource by Nick Fawcett, Grappling with God – Conquest and Kingdom – Explorations of the Old Testament. We’ll be exploring the history of the people of Israel as seen through the lives of some of the familiar characteristics of the Old Testament such as Samson, Hannah and Josiah. As we read, pray and talk together, hopefully the familiar and not so familiar stories will come alive in new and unexpected ways. Feel free to bring along your own refreshments!

Weekly coffee and chat during August

Come and join us on Tuesday mornings during August at 11am for informal coffee and chat. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided, with social distancing rules being observed.

How to book your place at our services in the church building

Space is limited and we need to comply with Covid-19 regulations, so it is necessary to ‘book your seat’ ahead of each in-person service. This will allow us to make sure as many people as possible can attend worship whilst maintaining social distancing.

Seats can be booked by completing our booking form. It is a Word document you can type into and ‘save as’ on your computer – it would be great if you can use your name and the date of the service as the document name when you save it. Please email it to us by midnight on the Thursday evening immediately before the service.

We have a handy sheet which explains what measures are in place to keep everyone safe. If you are concerned about whether or not to return to worship at the present time you could consult this personal risk assessment as part of your decision making.

What else is going on?

There are lots of opportunities for you to meet with us and other Christians in an online forum. Please head over to our Support during coronavirus page to find out more.

Faith and Friendship

This group meets weekly on Zoom on Monday evenings at 8pm.

What’s on

This is where you would usually find out details of forthcoming events at our church. Due to the Coronavirus and in response to Government recommendations, it is with regret that we have had to suspend most meetings and activities on these premises until further notice. Go to our What’s On page to find out what opportunities are being provided for you to meet with us online.

Prayer and worship

We encourage you to continue in worship and prayer in different ways, whether that be individually in your own homes or via online routes. We have a wide selection of resources for prayer and worship whilst the physical building is closed, explore those you wish to get involved in.  You may find one you want to use every week, or you may wish to join different services and communities each week.
