  • Following each mid-week service at Pittington please join us for our coffee morning about 10.30am, whether you’ve been at the service or would like to join us afterwards.

  • Weekly prayer meeting – Join us each Wednesday 9.30-10.00am  for the Durham City East Methodists’ online prayer meeting on Zoom. Contact us if you’d like the link to join us. Feel free to come along with your morning cuppa!
  • Craft Group – Join this group which is meeting weekly at Pittington St John’s church on Wednesday 10.30-12.30. There is a £3 subs charge each week to cover the cost of supplies and refreshments – no need to bring your own kit!
  • Monthly Bible Study – On the first Wednesday of each month we are meeting at Carrville for our monthly bible study at 2pm. We are studying a resource by Nick Fawcett, Grappling with God – Conquest and Kingdom – Explorations of the Old Testament. We are exploring the history of the people of Israel as seen through the lives of some of the familiar characteristics of the Old Testament such as Samson, Hannah and Josiah. As we read, pray and talk together, hopefully the familiar and not so familiar stories will come alive in new and unexpected ways. Feel free to bring along your own refreshments!

There are lots of opportunities for you to meet with us and other Christians in an online forum. Please head over to our Support during coronavirus page to find out more.

How to book your place at our services

Space is limited and we need to comply with Covid-19 regulations, so it is necessary to ‘book your seat’ ahead of each in-person service. This will allow us to make sure as many people as possible can attend worship whilst maintaining social distancing.

Bowburn services – Please book your place by ringing John (0191 908 5731) by noon the day before.

Carrville services – Seats can be booked by completing our booking form. It is a Word document you can type into and ‘save as’ on your computer – it would be great if you can use your name and the date of the service as the document name when you save it. Please email it to us by midnight on the Thursday evening immediately before the service. We have a handy sheet which explains what measures are in place to keep everyone safe. If you are concerned about whether or not to return to worship at the present time you could consult this personal risk assessment as part of your decision making.

Pittington services – To book your place, please ring Peter (0191 372 0161) or Bill (0191 386 6798) by noon at the latest on the day before.

What’s on

This is where you would usually find out details of forthcoming events at our church. Due to the Coronavirus and in response to Government recommendations, it is with regret that we have had to suspend most meetings and activities on these premises until further notice. Prayer and worship

We encourage you to continue in worship and prayer in different ways, whether that be individually in your own homes or via online routes. We have a wide selection of resources for prayer and worship whilst the physical building is closed, explore those you wish to get involved in.  You may find one you want to use every week, or you may wish to join different services and communities each week.
